Brela is old Croatian word for "the springs" - Brela is a source of beauty: a thick pine wood descending all the way to the many beautiful beaches and the turquoise sea. There is a small marina to harbour yachts and boats. Hot summers are moderated by landward breeze.
Brela was raised at the site of old Roman settlements (1st-4th century) as the settlement of Berulia. The today's settlement was raised in more recent times with the movement of the population from villages at the foot of Biokovo, from agriculture to tourism.
