The Bornholmerhus is the old captain's house of the 19th century whaler Andersen. The house was discovered in the 1950s by a merchant family and brought back to life. It is located in the centre of a nature museum area, where nature must not be changed from its 19th century state. The Bornholmerhus is now in its third generation of family ownership and has recently been offered exclusively for rent.
It was previously extensively renovated by a traditional Danish company and modernised with great attention to detail. All the traditional details have been retained, in the style of Andersen. The house is surrounded by 3 hectares of heathland.
The holiday home is very spacious and combines unique comfort with tradition. The large, modern eat-in kitchen is the centrepiece of the house and is designed for social gatherings. You can enjoy a glass of wine from the bar stools for a shared cooking experience and watch delicious island specialities being prepared in the kitchen, for example.
The dining area is right next to the window front, from here you have a fantastic view over the heathland and may even spot the odd hare or deer.
The north and south parts of the house each have a large lounge with many antiques from the original furnishings: the living area with a cosy sofa area and TV and the cosy fireplace room in the north part. End your eventful holiday together in front of a crackling fire in the large brick fireplace!
The 5 bedrooms are all equipped with high-quality beds and are located in a separate wing. Particular attention has been paid to modern sound insulation. The 2 bathrooms are modernly furnished. The larger bathroom is designed as a spa area with a whirlpool for two and a large quality sauna. All rooms are equipped with underfloor heating, providing the highest level of living comfort. The first floor is private and is not rented out (use not included in the rental price).
Enjoy the lovely surroundings and the beautiful area between Havneby and Kongsmark in the Bornholmerhus heath. You have no more than a few minutes by car to the shops and the mudflats. You can also book guided tours at Tønnisgård Nature Centre.
